Muhammad Mansha Yaad Biography And Work

Muhammad Mansha Yaad is a novel and playwriter. He belonged to Pakistan. He got famous for the Punjabi novel ‘Taanwan Taanwa Taara,’ translated into Urdu by Raahain.

Pakistan Television made a successful drama serial in this novel. This drama is top-rated among people.

Life

Muhammad Mansha Yaad was born in 1937 in Thatta Nushtar near Farooqabad. He completed his primary schooling in the village of Gajyana and matriculation from Hafizabad. Meanwhile, Mansha Yaad got a diploma in engineering from Rasoolpur college.

He got the degree of bachelor of arts in 1965 from Punjab University. After, Yaad passed MA in Urdu and Punjabi from the same university.

Muhammad Mansha Yaad joined the Pakistan Government services in 1958 PWD Rehabilitation. In 1960, he was posted in CDA as a sub-engineer. He served in several positions in the same dept. Mansha retired in 1997 from the Captial development authority as a Deputy Director.

After retirement, Mansha Yaad stayed in Islamabad and devoted his life to literature and literary events.

He married his cousin  Farhat Nasim Akhtar. He had one daughter and three sons.

Death

Muhammad Mansha Yaad died of a heart attack on 15 October 2011 in Islamabad.

Literary Activities

Muhammad Mansha Yaad also took an interest in literary activities. In 1972 he established  Halqa Arbab e Zauq in Islamabad. It is the first academic society in the capital city. Later, he founded organizations such as Likhnay Walon Ki Anjuman, Rabta, Bazame Kitab, and Fiction Forum.

Mansha Yaad took an interest in poetry and writing at a young age. He adopted various pen names but later selected “Yaad” as a pen name.

He wrote in Urdu and Punjabi Language. Moreover, Yaad also translated various English books. He did the following literary work.

  • Raahain (Taanwan Taanwa Taara in Punjabi)

Mansha Yaad wrote one Urdu novel Raahain Known, in Punjabi Taanwan Taanwa Taara. This story earned much fame, and PTV made a superhit TV serial based on this novel. Some parts of this drama shoot a village, Mohlanwal, situated on the bank of River Ravi.

This drama focuses on issues of social and urban people in Pakistan. It revolves around our traditions and the supremacy of landlords, justice, and education.
